Defence Act 2024 (Order 1)

Legislative Branch

Defence Act 2024 (Order 1)
EXPLANATORY NOTES
This Order, by the Secretary of State for Defence, shall remove the requirement for a disciplinary hearing to be held and agreed to for additions to the Ban on Sight list due to the nature of the list. Where the Defence Secretary is utilising these powers there is likely a necessity for immediate action due to safety concerns, and by slowing down that action due to scheduling hearings and requiring additional parties to agree only reduces the impact the Ministry of Defence can have on safety and security. The person or group may still appeal this placement, but ultimately where the Defence Secretary and Prime Minister are concerned there should not be a need for additional parties to agree.
