Culture and Technology Act 2024
EXPLANATORY NOTES
This bill establishes both the Department for Culture and the Department for Technology.

BILL
TO


establish the Department for Culture; establish the Department for Technology; and for connected purposes.

BE IT ENACTED by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1     The Department for Culture

  1. There shall be a Department for Culture, which shall be a ministerial department, consisting of—
    1. the Secretary of State for Culture (6iC);
    2. the Minister of State for Culture (7iC);
    3. the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Olympics) (7iC);
  2. The Department for Culture shall be responsible for—
    1. publishing articles on the website;
    2. The Majesty’s Government’s communicative effort to inform the public of its agendas, initiatives, plans and activities;
    3. publishing a digital newspaper on a regular basis as determined by the Cabinet Office;
    4. creating graphics for use by The Majesty’s Government;
    5. hosting and planning events for the United Kingdom, its foreign relations, in conjunction with the Foreign Office, and the wider Habbo community;
    6. advising the Cabinet Office on engagement with the wider Habbo community;
    7. planning, organizing and implementing strategies to increase awareness of the United Kingdom in the Habbo community;
    8. discharging any other duties assigned by the Prime Minister or by statute law.

2     The Department for Technology

  1. There shall be a Department for Technology, which shall be a ministerial department, consisting of—
    1. the Secretary of State for Technology (6iC);
  2. The Department for Technology shall be responsible for—
    1. ensuring that all website resources are in line with established policy, regulations and statute law;
    2. regularly auditing Discord and Habbo group permissions and membership;
    3. ensuring that the terms and conditions of the website and Discord are complied with;
    4. advising the Prime Minister on reforms and improvements for the website and Discord;
    5. discharging any other duties assigned by the Prime Minister or by statute law.

3     Amendments

  1. The Prime Minister may by order amend sections 1 and 2 of this Act.
