he Justice Act 2024 states that the Attorney Generals office cannot perform the duties of the Ministry of Justice:
"The Secretary of State for Justice shall not assume the duties of the Attorney General’s Office and members of the Attorney General’s Office shall not assume the duties of the Secretary of State for Justice, unless where delegated by the Secretary of State for Justice, which may only be for the purposes of keeping justice records as described in section 9 of this Act."

"In the absence of the Secretary of State for Justice or in cases of conflict of interest, the duties and powers shall be exercised by a King’s Counsel, who is not a member of the Attorney General’s Office, appointed to do so by the Prime Minister."

Attorney General PretseL has admitted to breaching this protocol. He admitted this on March 4th in the Speaker's office.
